October 18th, 2011 - David Breazeale Announces Retirement Laurel, Mississippi (10/18/11) – After much consideration, Henderson Motorsports team driver, David Breazeale, has announced that he will be retiring from racing at the end of the 2011 season for at least the foreseeable future. David, who has been racing for over 15 years, made the decision based on his necessity to focus on his own company. Breazeale comments, "Racing really takes a lot of your time, and to do it right takes even more time. As a result, I haven't been able to focus on my logging business the way that I need, and that's got to change. David would lead the first lap of the feature before Byars slipped by to take the lead on the second circuit. Breazeale would stalk Byars for the next 24 laps before utilizing a restart after a lap 25 caution to blast the cushion to race his way back to the top spot. David would go on to lead the final 15 laps to claim his first win of the year. He was followed by Byars, Rodney Wing, Chad Thrash, and Steve Bryan. Leon Henderson had a rough night as he got in his lid in hot laps, and although he was uninjured the car sustained medium damage. The team repaired the car for b-main action, and Leon had raced his way up to the seventh spot in the b-main, when he began to push the issue late in the event trying to reach the sixth and final transfer spot. Exiting turn two late in the race he would spin, collecting Keith Miller, which resulted in heavy damage to Henderson's car. Twenty-five Super Late Models entered the event, and after setting fast time in his group and second fast time overall, David Breazeale started outside front row for the dash. He would claim the dash win to earn the the pole position for the 50 lap feature alongside Klint Byars in what would prove to be an incredible race. David would run second early in the event before motoring to the lead on the seventh circuit. A few laps later Byars would charge to the lead and over the next several laps of the caution free event the lead duo would battle side-by-side through lapped traffic as they continually swapped the lead. Byars would inch ahead for the final time on lap 38 as he went on to claim the win with Breazeale a close second. Leon Henderson also entered the event, and via his qualifier he fell short of making the transfer after battling mechanical issues. Despite not qualifying for the feature via his qualifier, he was able to start the main event in the 21st starting spot via a provisional. He would motor to the heat race win, which locked him into the pole starting spot for Saturday night's 100 lap finale. In the feature, on an abrasive track, Breazeale would lead the first six laps before he began to slip backwards through the field as his tires began to go away. He would later retire from the event, and was officially scored in the 21st finishing position. Leon Henderson was also in action in the event on Friday night, and would start eighth in his heat race before having a flat tire relegate him to a last place finish. Facing starting in the back of a b-main on Saturday night, Leon elected to depart the event as he traveled to Jackson Motor Speedway (Byram, Mississippi) for the 2011 season opener for the Mississippi State Championship challenge Series (MSCCS) on Saturday night. Thirty-three cars entered the event and in qualifier action, Leon would fall short of locking into the feature, and as a result would use a series' provisional to start the feature in the 24th starting spot. He would go on to advance to a 19th place finish in the final running order. March 29th, 2011 - This weekend both team drivers will enter the $20,000 to win, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) event at Lone Star Speedway (Kilgore, Texas). March 27th, 2011 - With a poor forecast for Sunday night's program at Needmore Speedway (Norman Park, Georgia) the team opted to head home early Sunday morning. It would prove to be a good decision as the event would fall victim to late afternoon rain. March 26th, 2011 - The team ventured to Screven Motor Speedway (Sylvania, Georgia) on Saturday night for a $10,000 to win, World of Outlaws Super Late Model event. Unfortunately, shortly after arriving rain showers began to plague the facility, ultimately forcing the postponement of the event until November 2nd. March 25th, 2011 - Henderson Motorsports entered their first ever event at Ocala Speedway (Ocala, Florida) on Friday night. The $10,000 to win, World of Outlaws event saw David Breazeale start the night strong by setting sixth fast time overall. In his heat race, he would finish second to earn a spot in the redraw for the feature. The redraw would reward Breazeale with the fourth starting spot for the feature. Despite starting near the front of the pack in the feature, David would find his mount to be ill-handling as he struggled on the one groove track. After slipping back several spots early in the feature, Breazeale would retire to a 24th place finish. Leon Henderson was also in action, but would struggle in time trials leaving him starting at the back of a heat race. In both the heat and his b-main, Leon would not reach a transfer spot to the feature bringing his night to an early end. March 23rd, 2011 - Henderson Motorsports has decided to compete with the World of Outlaws Super Late Model Series this weekend in a trio of events. March 19th, 2011 - After a two week hiatus, Henderson Motorsports returned to action with the 1st Annual Cash Cow 100 at Columbus Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) in what proved to be a rough night for both David Breazeale and Leon Henderson. David's night appeared to get underway with a promising start as he qualified eighth fastest overall to earn the second starting spot for his heat race alongside Ron Davies. Breazeale would bolt to the lead early in the event and would hold down the spot for the first eleven laps before his left rear tire rolled off the wheel, causing him to spin. He would duck into the pits for a fresh left rear, and would rejoin the tail of the field. In the closing laps he would pick up a few spots, but started deep in a b-main on Saturday night. In the b-main on Saturday night, Breazeale would begin marching to the front of the pack from his 10th starting position. By the race's midway point he was up to fifth and a few laps later he would move into fourth as he began to challenge for the transfer spot. A caution with two laps to go looked to give Breazeale the chance he needed to race his way into the main event, however, a brake check by the cars in front of David resulted in him receiving hard contact from behind. He would manage to keep from spinning but would lose a few spots and any shot at transferring to the feature. It was a long weekend for Leon Henderson as well as struggles in time trials left him starting deep in a heat race. Henderson would be unable to make up much ground in his heat race and like Breazeale will start toward the tail of the field in a loaded b-main on Saturday night. After passing a few cars, Leon would finish out of a transfer spot to the main event. March 3rd, 2011 - Henderson Motorsports was set to open the 2011 MSCCS Super Late Model tour this weekend at Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Mississippi). However, a rainy forecasted has resulted in the event being postponed until April. As a result, the team will not race this weekend. February 26th, 2011 - The team made their first ever trip to Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, Louisiana) over the weekend for the 1st Annual Childress Fishing & Rentals Pelican 100. The $10,000 to win event drew a field of 48 Super Late Models, and David Breazeale blazed to the third fastest time to earn the pole position for the third heat race, which he won after a great side-by-side battle with Billy Moyer Jr. Via his heat win, he started third in the 100 lap feature on Saturday night. Early in the event he would slip back as far as the fifth position before mounting a late race charge to the front of the pack, which saw him battle three wide with Ray Moore and Bub McCool for the lead in the closing laps before settling for a third place finish behind race winner, Moore, and McCool. Leon Henderson started eighth in his heat race on Friday night and mounted a strong run to finish in the fifth position, which didn't give him a transfer to the feature, but earned him the third starting spot in a b-main. Early in the b-main, Henderson was running fourth when he slipped off the turn one banking forcing him to the tail of the pack. As the race went back green, he passed a few cars before a melee in front of him collected his mount bringing his night to an early end. February 12th, 2011 - Henderson Motorsports entered the final day of the 35th Annual DART Winternationals at East Bay Raceway Park. Fifty-eight Super Late Models entered the morning session, which was highlighted by a $10,000 to win, 40 lap event. For Leon Henderson, he would see his day quickly end as in heat race action, a car spun in front of him, which sent him hard into the turn one wall, resulting in heavy damage to his car. The damage forced Henderson to scratch from the balance of the day's program. David Breazeale would enjoy another pair of strong runs. In the morning session, David started on the front row for his heat race and led much of the event before Jimmy Owens slipped by on the last lap to claim the win. After finishing second in his heat race, Breazeale started eighth in the feature. He would battle a tight race car for much of the feature before settling into an eighth place finish. In the night program, the SPEED TV cameras were present to catch all of the action in the $12,000 to win, 75 lap event. Sixty-one Late Models were on hand, and the event started well for Breazeale as he set second fast time in his group to earn the pole for a heat race. In heat race action, Breazeale finished in the second spot, which earned him the 10th starting spot for the feature. For the first half of the race David ran in the top ten before slipping to a 15th place finish late in the event. Overall, the DART Winternationals were a success for the team as David qualified for all six features in only his second appearance at East Bay Raceway. February 11th, 2011 - The team saw Thursday's event postponed by rain at East Bay Raceway Park (Tampa, Florida), and as a result a double header was contested on Friday. The morning show was headlined by a $5,000 to win event, and David's afternoon started well as he set fourth fast time in his group to earn the outside front row starting spot for his heat race. Unfortunately in turn two on the first lap, Breazeale would jump the cushion and tag the wall. The damage would be enough to force him pitside. Luckily David would receive a provisional starting spot for the feature via his qualifying effort. After starting 26th on the grid for the feature, Breazeale retired on the first lap to save his equipment on a track that did not lend itself to passing. In the evening, $10,000 to win show Breazeale would find himself starting fifth in his heat race. Despite being behind the eight ball he would race his way to the third and final transfer spot, which left him starting thirteenth in the 50 lap feature. In the feature, on a one groove track, Breazeale would only manage a 14th place finish in the final rundown. Leon Henderson was also in action in his #10 Victory Circle Chassis, and would spend the day continuing to learn the handle on his new race car. He would gain valuable track time, but would fall short of transferring to the feature in either show against a talent-laden field of competitors. February 9th, 2011 - Henderson Motorsports entered another $5,000 to win event at East Bay Raceway (Tampa, FL) on Wednesday night. For David Breazeale the night started well as he rocketed to a second place finish in his heat race to lock into the seventh starting spot for the 30 lap main event. David battled in the top ten for much of the event, but late in the race, David would spin to miss a melee in front of him. By series' rules Breazeale should've gotten his spot back as he spun to miss an accident, but he did not get to retain his position. He would ultimately finish 18th. Leon Henderson found himself starting deep in the grid for heat race action, and after not qualifying for the feature via heat race action, he was forced to run a b-main. In the b-main, Henderson would get valuable track time but would not reach a transfer spot to the main event. February 8th, 2011 - After seeing the opener fall victim to rain on Monday, Henderson Motorsports finally opened the 2011 Florida Speedweeks on Tuesday night at East Bay Raceway Park (Tampa, Florida). With 64 Super Late Models entered, Leon Henderson would see his night come to an end before it could get started as contact with the turn two wall resulted in too much damage for the team to get fixed prior to to qualifying. David Breazeale would enjoy much better luck though. He started the night by qualifying fifth fastest in his group to earn the outside front row starting spot for his heat race, which he won over Jason Feger to earn the third starting spot in the 30 lap, $5,000 to win feature. Early in the feature, Breazeale would jump to the second position as he began to pressure Jimmy Owens for the lead. Lap 9 saw Breazeale slip back to third as Scott Bloomquist moved up to second. Over the next 15 laps, Breazeale ran in third as he challenged for the second spot. However, on a lap 27 restart Austin Hubbard slipped past David for the third spot. Breazeale would go on to record a strong fourth place finish behind race winner, Bloomquist, Owens, and Hubbard. January 16th, 2011 - Sunday was the finale of the 5th Annual Wild West Shootout as the Bill Cheesebourg Memorial was held, which posted a $10,000 to win, 30 lap event. The day looked to be off to a good start for David Breazeale, who was on the move through the pack early in his heat race after starting in the back. He was challenging for the second spot on the fourth lap, when a left rear tire exploded causing extensive damage to his entry and bringing the day to an end. Leon Henderson would draw a large pill as well and for the second straight day would find himself trying to battle through the pack to reach a transfer spot, but he would fall short of the mark, bringing his day to an early end as well. January 15th, 2011 - On Saturday the team took part in a $3,000 to win event, which served as Round #5 of the 5th Annual Wild West Shootout at USA Raceway. It would prove to be a tough day for the team. In heat race action, David Breazeale, who started at the back of the heat grid, was passing Rob Mayea for second when Mayea pushed up the track sending Breazeale into the turn two wall resulting in heavy damage. The team would repair the car for the b-main, but after starting at the back, David would be unable to reach a transfer spot. Leon would avoid damage to his car during the course of the event but also battled a poor draw to start at the back of a heat race. He failed to earn enough passing points in heat race action to transfer to the feature, and would also fall short of earning a transfer from the b-main to the main event. January 14th, 2011 - Friday night found the team entering a $3,000 to win event at USA Raceway (Tucson, Arizona). With 49 Super Late Models entered, David would start deep in his heat race and would earn enough spots to lock into the ninth starting spot for the main event. In the feature, Breazeale would battle around tenth for much of the race before settling into an eighth place finish. Leon Henderson also drew a large number at the pill draw and started at the back of a heat race. He would spend much of the night trying to make up ground, and would ultimately fail to qualify for the feature. January 12th, 2011 - It was back to business on Wednesday night at USA Raceway (Tucson, Arizona) as the team entered Round #3 of the Wild West Shootout, which posted a $3,000 winner's share. Early in the evening history was made as Leon Henderson won his first ever heat as he out-battled Ronny Lee Hollingsworth for the win. Via the win, Henderson earned a spot in the redraw for the feature, and would pull the third starting spot. Early in the event, Henderson would fight a tight race car as he slipped to tenth. Over the remainder of the event, he raced his way to a 12th place finish. David Breazeale would race his way into the feature via his b-main event as he started in the 20th spot. However, his time in the feature would be short-lived as a lap one melee would result in damage to the front of his car, once again bringing his night to an early end. January 9th, 2011 - After spending five days trying to get their cars to Arizona due to hauler issues, the team finally arrived in time for Sunday's $5,000 to win program, which served as the second round of the 5th Annual Wild West Shootout. With both David Breazeale and Leon Henderson in action, each driver fell short of making the cut to lock into the feature via heat race action. As a result, Breazeale would charge from his fourth starting spot in a b-main to claim the win, which gave him the 15th starting spot for the 30 lap feature. Breazeale would crack the top ten by the race's halfway point, but a few laps later his night would come to a disappointing end as contact with the turn four wall resulted in a broken front tie rod. He would retire from the event. Leon Henderson finished fourth in his heat race after leading early in the event. As a result, he too ran a b-main event, but his luck would take a turn for the worse there as he received heavy damage to his car when several competitors spun in front of him early in the race. He would be unable to continue, and as a result would not start the main event. November 28th, 2010 - David Breazeale entered his final two events of the 2010 season over the weekend as he took part in a pair of races at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi), which were sanctioned by the PRO Dirt Car Series and NeSmith Super Dirt Car Series. On Saturday night, a $2,000 to win event was held and Breazeale earned the third starting spot via time trials. He would run second early in the event as he chased early leader, Jason Brock, before Rodney Wing pushed Breazeale back to third. A few laps later both Wing and Breazeale would work past Brock to move into the top two spots. Wing would slowly began to inch away from Breazeale over the ensuing laps before Neil Baggett moved in to challenge Breazeale for the second spot. Breazeale would briefly slip back to third before rebounding to take second as he made a late race charge at Wing. Breazeale's advances at Wing would come up short, and he would record a second place finish. On Sunday evening, a $3,000 to win event was on tap, and once again David started third in the main event. At the drop of the green flag Breazeale moved up to second behind race leader, Rodney Wing. On a racing surface that would prove to lend itself to minimal passing, Breazeale would chase Rodney Wing to the checkered flag to record another second place finish. November 20th, 2010 - The Henderson Motorsports team cars were in action at Southern Raceway (Milton, Florida) over the weekend in the $5,000 to win, Topless 50. On Saturday night, Lucas would grab the lead early int he event with Breazeale and Rodney Wing in tow. David would run second for much of the event before Wing slipped by on a late race restart to take over the second spot. Breazeale would go on to finish third behind race winner, Shep Lucas, and Rodney Wing. Leon Henderson also entered the $5,000 to win event and would qualify for the feature event. However, on Saturday night mechanical issues would cause him to be the first car to retire from the event, and he would be credited with a 21st place finish. November 14th, 2010 - David Breazeale resumed his pursuit of the 2010 PRO Dirt Car Series title on Sunday evening at Riverside International Speedway (West Memphis, Arkansas) with a $2,000 to win event. With 27 cars on hand, Breazeale's outing started great as he set fast time to earn the pole position for the 40 lap feature. He would maintain the lead for the first 20 laps before disaster struck on lap 21 as contact from a lapped car resulted in a busted radiator, bringing his night to a disappointing end. Despite the DNF, he continues to lead the standings. October 30th, 2010 - The team made the trip to the 7th Annual Southern Belle Cotton Pickin' 100 over the weekend at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi). Despite starting toward the back of the pack, and falling victim to race leader, Mike Marlar's blistering pace early in the event, which caused him to go a lap down, Breazeale would make an impressive charge through the field, which saw him advance to a fifth place finish by the time that the checkered flag dropped on the finale. He followed race winner, Brian Birkhofer, Mike Marlar, Shane Clanton, and Billy Moyer across the line. Leon Henderson was in action as well, but would not see his weekend go as smooth. As a result, David Breazeale finished eighth in his heat race as he unsuccessfully tried to make the high line work. Via his heat race finish, he started 10th in a b-main on Saturday night. Breazeale would make a mad dash through the pack to finish fourth, but with only the top two cars transferring his weekend came to an early end. Leon Henderson started 10th in his heat race on Friday night and would also advance to an 8th place finish to start 10th in a b-main on Saturday. Leon would get as high as the 6th position in his b-main before retiring from the event, which also brought his weekend to an early finish. The point's leader would find trouble early in the event however as contact with Greg Fore as the pair battled for the lead resulted in David being credited for the caution. As a result, Breazeale was sent to the tail of the field. Despite being at the back he would not give up as he drove his #54 Mastersbilt to the front of the pack and would take the lead late in the race from Kyle Beard en route to the win, which was his 10th of the season. He also claimed the 2010 MSCCS Championship. Leon Henderson would earn the 19th starting spot for the feature via his qualifier and would advance through the pack to a 14th place finish in the final rundown. In the feature, Breazeale would only be able to advance one spot to a sixth place finish on a track, where the majority of the field utilized the high line. Breazeale would take the lead with a slide job on Clanton exiting turn four, but his time at the front would be short-lived as the next lap, Clanton would use a slidejob on Breazeale. The slide job would not clear David, resulting in him hitting the turn four wall and bringing his night to a very disappointing early end. Leon Henderson would fail to transfer from his heat race to the feature event, and would finish sixth in his b-main to earn a transfer to the last chance qualifier. In the last chance race, Leon would finish eleventh, and with only the top two cars moving on to the finale, his weekend would come to an early end.
